Pregnant Women and Soft Tubs

If there's one person who should be extremely careful when bathing in any type of tub, it's a pregnant woman. A pregnant woman should first seek the consent of her doctor before using any kind of tub, may it be indoors or outdoors.

Fatigue and body aches of a pregnant woman

Since pregnant women experience muscle fatigue and body aches during pregnancy, they would love to dip in the tub and soak in warm water for a long time. However, not all pregnant women realize the risks from this activity.

Possible serious infections

A pregnant woman is exceedingly prone to infections, especially when dipping in a tub that is poorly sanitized. Untreated bacterial growths in the tub may cause serious infections for a pregnant woman. This is very risky since a pregnant woman can't afford to be sick for her baby. What's even more alarming is that pregnant women who often staying are prone to having babies with birth defects

Prone to accidents

Pregnant women are said to be prone to carelessness and, therefore, to accidents as well. Though soft tubs are known to be slip-resistant due to sturdy surfaces, it will still be best to take the necessary precautions to avoid falls and slips in the tub. As we know, tubs usually maintain a warm temperature, which can sometimes be perilous for a pregnant woman who must not allow her internal body temperature to rise above the normal.

However, should a pregnant woman terribly desire to get into a tub for a bath, she must observe certain safety measure. She must reset the tub's thermostat to a much lower temperature and constantly check if temperature is not getting any higher. Most importantly, the pregnant woman must be responsible enough to heed discomforts or dizziness she might feel while on tub. That way, accidents and serious threats to both the mother and the child are avoided.
